Villa Melnik is one of the few producers who grow Mavrud in the Melnik region. Although Mavrud is not a typical variety for our region, it is one of the first varieties that we planted in our vineyard in the land of Vinogradi village in 2005 after a detailed analysis of the soils and climatic features of the micro-region.<\/p>\n<p>Mavrud is a late-ripening variety that ripens in mid-October. The advantage of growing Mavrud in the Melnik region is that the warm, long and dry autumn favors the full ripening of this variety. Here, the grapes reach a higher sugar level and maturity of the tannins. Transparent beautiful garnet color. The aroma is intriguing with elements of black cherry, herbal and ethereal notes. It tastes spicy, fresh, withgood tannic structure and a medium-long finish. Aged 18 months in Bulgarian oak barrels. Wine with a beautiful, deep color. The nose is reminiscent of raspberries, dried fruit, leather, aromatic tobacco and spices. The palate is powerful with smooth, ripe tannins. Harmonious and well balanced, this is a wine with character and a face of its own that will age well for many years. The wine is aged for 2 years in Bulgarian oak barrels and another 2 years in bottles in our underground tunnels. The wine is for true connoisseurs of the variety and of aged wines. It has a rich, sparkling color. Rich aroma of cherries, blackberries, with hints of chocolate, mocha and walnut. Elegant medium body with good freshness and silky soft tannins.
