Last week, the Villa Melnik team embarked on an extraordinary adventure. We were guests of our friends at TechnoMagicLand<\/a><\/em><\/strong> for a first-of-its-kind event: “VinoLAB” \u2013 a fresh take on wine tasting through the prism of physics and chemistry.<\/a>
\nThis was not just a standard tasting, it was a true laboratory investigation into the world of wine.<\/p>\n

Terroir, history, and the first sip of science<\/h5>\n

The evening began with a welcome drink and a walk through the center’s interactive exposition. Militza Zikatanova introduced the guests to the world of Villa Melnik and Bulgarian winemaking. She shared the magic of the Melnik terroir and the unique indigenous varieties we cultivate with such passion.
\nThe tasting started with our Aplauz Sandanski Misket<\/a><\/strong>, which provoked the first big question of the night: \u201cIs wine an art or a science?\u201d<\/p>\n

Corkscrew physics and glass optics<\/h5>\n

The event unfolded at a dynamic pace, alternating the tasting of our selected wines with impressive scientific experiments:
\nAplauz Chardonnay Sur Li\u0435<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0served as the foundation for a physics lesson. “TechnoMagician” Kaloyan Genkov demonstrated how pressure and friction help the corkscrew do its job and even created a “cloud in a bottle.”
\nWhile sampling our Aplauz Rose<\/a><\/strong>, we focused on the role of optics. A wine’s color is the first thing we perceive, but does it always match the palate’s expectations?<\/p>\n

The chemistry that brings wine to life<\/h5>\n

Moving on to the red wines, chemist Petar Tuhchiev explained why wine is a “living system.” With a glass of Bergul\u00e9 Melnik & Pinot Noir<\/strong><\/a> in hand, guests learned about fermentation, yeasts, and esters. We even discovered how to remove stubborn red wine stains using the Fenton reaction\u2014essential knowledge for any wine lover!<\/p>\n
