26 Feb BLOOMBERG BULGARIA TV: MILITZA ZIKATANOVA ON THE “VALLEY OF STRUMA” WINE DESTINATION
Militza Zikatanova’s participation in the Bloomberg Bulgaria TV programme “In Development” with host Veselina Spasova.
Militza commented on the development of wine tourism in Bulgaria on the eve of the symbolic gesture of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Agriculture to award the first sign “Wine Destination: The Valley of Struma”. According to her, the recently held “Open Doors Days for Wineries in Melnik” on the occasion of the holiday of Trifon Zarezan are a sign of successful cooperation between wineries in the region and this event is evidence that the wine destination already exists and is developing successfully. The ministers’ gesture shows the state’s desire to support this process. The requirements of producers towards the state should firstly be to invest in infrastructure and improve the roads to the wineries. Secondly, clear procedures should be created for placing signs indicating the wine establishments in a given region, following the model of signs that lead to natural, cultural, and historical landmarks.
Militza’s forecast is for a very positive effect from the BNT TV series “The Grapes of Guilt” (“Vina”) on the tourist flow in the region, as well as for a successful year for Melnik wine.
