10 Apr Filming a new Bulgarian TV series The Grapes of Guilt at the winery
We are excited to share with you that Wine Cellar Villa Melnik has become the shooting location for a new TV series. The 12-episode series is called “The Grapes of Guilt” (“Вина”, which in Bulgarian means both “wines” and “guilt”). The show is a production of the Bulgarian National Television, BNT1.
The show tells the story of two families who are related to the wine industry, and whose fates have been intertwined with Melnik wines and the Melnik region for generations.
Villa Melnik’s Zikatanov family is extremely proud that our picturesque vineyards and winery have been chosen as the main filming location.

The script perfectly intertwines the real issues facing Bulgarian wine producers with purely fictional plotlines. For a few months, the Zikatanov have been consulting the screenplay writers in order to portray the winemaking process in the most accurate and authentic ways. Our winemaker has been teaching the actors how to enact his profession. We have been sharing our experience and personal stories in order to inspire the entire cast and crew so that they may pass our passion for wine onto the show’s viewers.
The director is Victor Bojinov. The cast includes prominent Bulgarian actors such as Elena Telbis, Victor Zombori, Mihail Bilalov, Gerasim Georgiev – Gero, Paraskeva Djukelova, Dimitar Selenski, Daria Mitusheva, Kristina Veroslavova, and many others.
The series is launching in October 2022 on BNT1.
