Villa Melnik Showcases Bulgarian Terroir at ProWein 2026 in Düsseldorf

From March 15 to 17, 2026, Villa Melnik participated in the most significant event on the global wine calendar – the ProWein international trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. Our winery was part of the Bulgarian national pavilion, where, alongside 19 other leading producers, we presented our country as a modern and competitive wine destination.

The primary focus of Villa Melnik’s presentation to the international audience was the authentic character of our region. Visitors and industry professionals had the opportunity to discover unique local varieties and their contemporary interpretations:

• Shiroka Melnishka Loza and Melnik 55
• Sandanski misket
• Innovative Blends, such as the Bergule series featuring the combination of Mavrud & Melnik, as well as the non-traditional pairing of Melnik & Pinot Noir.
• At the Bulgarian pavilion, a central highlight was Melnik Family Tree 2023 – the flagship wine of Villa Melnik, which was available for tasting throughout the event.
• Rare Varieties Melnik 1300 2021 was featured in the fair’s collective tasting zone. The wine garnered significant interest from international experts as a current Gold Medalist from the spring session of the prestigious Mundus Vini 2026 international competition.

ProWein is the world’s largest trade fair for wines and spirits, annually bringing together thousands of exhibitors and tens of thousands of professional visitors. For the third consecutive year, the participation of Bulgarian winemakers with a national pavilion was organized with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. This initiative is part of a consistent strategy to establish the “Bulgaria” brand on international markets and to highlight the high quality of Bulgarian wines with a distinct regional character.

The collective efforts of the participating wineries demonstrate that the Bulgarian wine sector is united in its mission to position the country among the nations producing wines with an authentic spirit and uncompromising quality.
